06-13 First Time in the Tetons

I don’t remember saying the word “wow” before, ever. But looking up to the snow brushed peaks of the Tetons I said it several times. One is just lost for adequate words.

The storm of the past few days has cleared out leaving only white clouds and an occasional snow patch. We drove the Gros Ventre Road yesterday to see Mormon Row and happened upon a herd of Buffalo near the road, very near. The closest animal was no more than 30 feet from the car. What a sight to see after staring drop-jawed at the Teton Range. We continue to see prong horns but none within range for a photo.

It is early spring here and the new leaves of the cottonwoods, aspen and willows are still yellow making for a nice foreground for the mountains.

Sublette, Coulter, Bridger, Jed Smith, Medicine Bow, The Snake, The Green, The Platte … the names of these men and these historic pathways into the west are never far from your thoughts. What country.

Wonderful images, Buz! The Tetons are an awesome sight. We shot that same sign on our trip! :)

Being in the midst of that bison herd had to be exciting.
Best to you,
Dick:)

I knew that you would feel that way about this area. No matter haw many times you see it you always want to go back for one more look. This was one of the areas that we had the hardest time leaving Buz. Glad you like it!!
